On this vast subject of the climate, you will regularly find here and there, especially in social media feeds, people with superb ideas—sometimes well-developed (especially on Mastodon which allows for it) but totally impractical.
We can have all the solutions in the world, but if it were as simple as stated, there is a good chance it would have been at least partially implemented by now.
It serves as a reminder that theory is one thing, and reality is quite another.
Theory is effectively a 2D vision, whereas the application of that theory—provided it is collectively accepted—is multi-dimensional.
Plenty of people have already come up with the ideas developed on the back of a napkin, yours and mine alike. And often many years ago. Access to immediate network sharing is deceptive. Even if you haven't read it, your idea has likely already been written down somewhere.
Because theory often forgets the essential component: who we are ontologically. As long as we remain who we are, there will be no easy solution. Theory always comes up against the acceptance of the majority (or at least the main decision-makers).
And against your own simple acceptance. For example, finally accepting that moving one person in a complex mobile assembly weighing a tonne makes absolutely no sense (the car, even an electric one).
Having mentioned that—and I readily admit, too briefly—and since humanity shapes itself through action, it is nevertheless time to act.
Step by step.
Our convictions deserve better than never being heard and remaining in the back of our minds. Otherwise, the resulting frustration could turn into violence. Which, presumably, nobody wants.
On the other hand, we all have a starting point for a solution in our hands as soon as we acquire our civic rights.
Undoubtedly the very first step.
So, let's stop voting for the clowns who stand in elections in your country, for example.
Ultimately, the solution lies within each of us. However, and we can only regret this, we will not live long enough to see even the slightest consequence of it.
